I think some people have an issue separating video games from reality or are just easily offended. It may be offensive and fucked up but still a good game. I put gameplay above all else and if the gameplay is enjoyable, then I would say it’s a good game.
I’ll admit the messages those games seem to be sending are obviously terrible but to say a game sucks without actually playing it is ridiculous. My usual response to that is normally “have you actually played them?”. Now I’ve never played them but I’ve heard many say they’re just “trash”. Both Ethnic Cleansing and RapeLay are good examples of controversial games due to their questionable subject matter.
